DESCRIPTION:

Oxyclozanide belongs to the salicylanides group of chemicals. Oxyclozanide is primarily effective against liver-flukes when administered orally in sheep and goats. Oxyclozanide acts to disconnect or uncouple the mitochondrial reactions involved in electron-transport-associated events. This disconnection is lethal to fasciola species and also other blood-sucking helminthes including the nematode Haemonchus contortus. Oxyclozanide is also effective against six week old flukes in sheep and goat.

INDICATIONS:

H-Oxyco 2700 is indicated in the treatment of acute and chronic fascioliasis (Fasciola hepatica and Fasciola gigantica) in cattle caused by both mature and immature flukes.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:

For oral administration.

Cattle: 10 mg per kg body weight i.e. 1 bolus per 270 kg body weight. In case of immature amphistomiasis increase the dose to 15 mg per kg body weight.

SIDE EFFECT:

At the recommended dose there are practically no side effects except that some animals may show slight loss of appetite which is transitory. In lactating animals there may be a slight drop in milk for 1-2 days only. Softening of feces or diarrhoea may some times occur.

WITHDRAWAL TIMES:

Meat and offal: 7 days.

Milk: 2 days.
